Does what it says on the tin really. Somehow I don’t think this would happen in the UK: 1. We’re not creative enough and 2. The sign-holders/chanters/Daily Mail would have a field day . . . Stolen from Viceland. Also, what kind of category does this go in? Answers on a postcard.

you know what they say – judge a country by the way it treats it’s animals. that being the case, them russians who do this to their moggies deserve nowt better than a night in a dark room, with a select group of baseball-bat carrying members of 3-para. and that, wouldn’t even amount to the discomfort our feline friends are going through.
i could swear like a trooper, which i am, but i won’t type it….
tell thee what though – if anyone dared to do this to my cats, i’d skin them fookin’ alive!!

The Cats feel no pain not even the slightest prick nor irritation as a topical (rubbed into the skin NOT injected) non toxic to animals numbing agent is applied to the area prior to & untill fully healed If not do you really think the cat would sit still long enough to be tattooed if it felt the slightest prick of the tattoo needles (they would be gone like a rocket sled on rails) & even the minor irritation during the healing period would have the critter scratching, chewing & ripping at thier own flesh like they do when they go after an itch or an imaginary flea, which would destroy the animal’s skin not to mention the artwork. So the answer is no they feel nothing and no the cat is not drugged into kitty la la land, But great effort & aftercare has to be performed on a regular schedule which is very time consuming the cat has to be watched constantly and the area cleaned carefully and lovingly with no deviation in schedule this aftercare is not to be taken lightly at all, Just for one day imagine yourself with no finger’s or even arm’s and you have this new tattoo which is in all reality is a controlled 2nd layer dermis abrasion – Now systematically keep it clean and consistently infection free for a minimum of 2 week’s, not very easy is it ? To be truthful you cant do it I dont care if your a Magician it’s not possible, Now maybe you understand the reason for the constant & consistent – observation, cleaning and care of the animal without exception! The same close attention and care to prevent irritation & prevention of infection is given to the domesticated ungulates we get milk from and eat – for example Cows and Calves have thier ear’s Pierced with ID tag’s & Tattooed on the inner lip and or inner ear with serial numbers and letter/numeral combination’s kind of like a upc code for food “on the hoof” that verify everything from – date of birth, ranch, owner, breed, proof of Inoculation/vaccination, USDA required “live animal” inspection, and even projected pre slaughter inspection date’s. We have came a long way since the day’s of the crude inhumane branding iron, But they are still being used in Several countries.

they completely knock the cats out…. like when they spay or nueter… yea sure they may use a cream as well… but they put the cat to sleep temporarily… But i find it dumb to force an animal to go through that purely for the purepose of “being cool” by the owners standards. More and more people are purchashing these hairless felines for the purpose of getting them ‘inked’. Not fair if you ask me. These cats were suppose to be for the hypo-allergenic so cat lovers with an allergy could still enjoy the companionship of a pet. Not to be put on display…

Cats should never be tattooed. I have 5 tattoos and the all hurt like a bitch. Especially in the boney areas. People who tattoo their cats should receive the worst punishment possible. I feel sorry for people who don’t have enough self esteem and who don’t think highly enough of themselves that they have to put an innocent animal through pain just to be “cool” and get attention. Fuckers.

As a person who runs a cat rescue i really find this disgusting…. Not a month goes by when i am not brought a cat in appauling condition by an onwer because they ‘are bored with it’. ‘its not as cute as a kitten’ . ‘i want an *xxx* breed cos they are better’.
Animals may not have the same rights as us, but we do have a moral obligation to provide them with a respectable level of care. This includes, as stated by DEFRA: ‘The freedom from pain and discomfort’ also ‘The freedom from fear and stress’. THIS IS OUR LAW.
Having an animal purely as an accessory is pathetic, Its people like me and my companions who spend our time and effort rehabilitating and rehoming the pets these people no longer consider fasionable.
Sadly DEFRA law does not apply to other countries. While England has now abolished testing on animals for any other purpose than that of medicinal research, other countries still do it.
America, France, Spain, Italy, Russia…. Your make up, your bath products…. all gained by horrfic means, which with todays technology is no longer nessecary.
Russia may be using cats as ‘works of art’ BUT need i remind you, for example, AMERICA IS NOT GUILT FREE.
Declawing is a surgery performed over there without thought. To chop a cats fingers off so it doesnt damage your precious furniture is just as bad as tattoing an animal to suit you…. You are not considering your cats feelings, its inability to climb, scratch, defend itself. All you care about it whether your precious sofa gets marked. Yet another cat as a household furnishing. The emotional turmoil the cat suffers as a result of its sudden defensless status is tremendous, many cats do not recover, many cats develop serious behaviour problems…. many of these cats end up back in a shelter.
England is not guilt free…
We Still use chick hatcheries, and sometimes often cruel methods of slaughter. We still cull healthy dogs in the name of ‘breed champions’
France is not guilt free…
France was the first country to use vivisection (the practice of performing autopsy on live, conscious animals) and still use this method regulrarly to test there products.
i dont need to go on, but every country in the world uses cruelty as a method to get what they want.
So in conclusion….
Befor you all say russians are evil look to your own countries animal cruelty. The testing, the declawing, the culling of healthy dogs for the sake of ‘champion breeding’, the fur trading, the slaughter houses, chick hatcheries…. maybe instead of sitting on here slagging people off you should be out there appealing to your fellow man, and your governments for a change in the law to STOP these practices forever.

I totally agree with what you are saying. The way we treat our animals is atrocious. I will point out however that by having a household of cats and also working at more than one veterinary clinic that declawing is no longer a common practice. Every vet I worked for gave information to all new kitten clients about the harmful effects of declawing and gave other reccommendations. The vet I took my cats to outright denied any client seeking declawings. It was a common practice in the U.S. that through the spread of info by a lot of new veterinarians is now changing to a very socially unnacceptable practice.
I think most would be horrified and would fight a lot of the abuse that goes on around the world if they truly understood what was happening. Information is key to stopping animal cruelty.

i personally think they look awesome.. i’d take one.. i wouldn’t BUY one but if someone was offering me one that couldn’t find a home sure i’d take it.
declawing? yeah they do that with a sterile pair of pliers. i’m a tattoo artist.. it hurts sure.. but have any of you had a nail or toenail ripped out with pliers?
dog people? docking a tail? are you serious? put a small rubberband on it’s tail till it falls off. seriously… you people are the SAME people that get your kids circumcised because it’s “hygienic”… it’s not.
